I have been lucky to get to go hands on with Gotham City Impostors via it’s open beta programme and I must say I have been very impressed with the game so far.
This game is a online multiplayer only and the game allows you to customise tons of stuff. You can customise new costume items, accessories, change body parts, edit layouts and make your character a one of a kind. You will also have options to customise your primary and secondary weapons, support items and gadgets. The weapons include items such as assault rifles and bazookas with weapon attachments. Gadgets include grappling hooks, roller skates and binoculars.
Beta mode gives you access to two game modes which are Psych War and Fumigation modes. Psych War mode is a capture the flag game play and Fumigation mode is a domination style game play.
By far the best mode is Fumigation Mode where two teams (Bats and Jokers) battle for control of 3 pods. once one team as control of all 3 pods your enemy’s life tickets go down until they reach zero, at this point the winning team releases a cloud of Bats if your batman’s or a wave of laughing gas if your the jokers putting an end to the opposite team.
The beta is fun but it does have downfalls (which I am sure will be sorted before realise), the match making crashes the Xbox sometimes, there seems to be no team chat within the match making screen but there is within the game, and it can take up to 10mins to start a 3min game.
Some people have been complaining about lag issues but so far I have not had this problem.
Overall if you like the fun of team fortress you will love this game,
Gotham City Impostors will be released on 7th February on Windows PC and 8th February on PSN and XBLA
