Saints Row the 3rd Review by cbrownie
This is one game you may have over looked due BF3, MW3 and Skyrim all coming out around the same time. But now we are in the post Christmas game realises you should definitely grab yourself a copy.
When this game came out I must admit it was not even on my radar for games to pick up, I have and still play GTA and to be honest I have not been that impressed with Saints Row 1 and 2.
But now I have it I can’t put it down and it as taken over my console, why you may ask?
This game is the most fun I have had with a video game in years, It makes me laugh, it’s easy to pick up and massive. Yes it as the same old format as the other two in the series where you are fighting for control of rival gang areas by buying property and taking out gangs but it as something else, it doesn’t take itself to serious.
Without giving to much away you play the part of a gang leader who’s once very popular gang as lost street cred, you most take the streets back by doing a number of missions and side missions, if you have played any of the GTA games you will be at home with the game straight away, a quick button press and you hijack a passing car or bike even a plane, helicopter or tank can be yours.
Weapons and upgrades
A trip to one of the gun stores will give you weapon upgrades and ammo, you have the normal weapons pistols, sniper rifles, shot guns and 3ft dildos, yes thats right you read it right a 3ft dildo called the penetrator, this works more like a baseball bat but is so much fun running down the road with a 3ft pink dildo and makes me laugh every time.
Vehicles
There are loads of vehicles in the game from bikes to attack helicopters, take any road vehicle to the chop shop and you can fully customise it to your liking.
MissionsThe missions and side missions are the same as any other game in the series, drive to point A get instructions go to point B and carry out instructions but they are fun and not boring at all, I have taken a tiger for a ride where my mission was to keep him happy and broke into a S&M club and taken a Gimp for a ride down the road, trust me you have to try it even my wife thought this was funny.
Verdict
Ok the game as it’s faults, there is no multi player as such but there is a coop mode where a buddy can come and join your game bringing across his/her weapons and vehicles to help you on your missions, there is also some pop up mainly while flying or driving at speed.
Overall this is a solid game, not one to be played in front of the kids but if like me you get sick of FPS and want some fun where you can take your time and play a game at your pace and have laugh along the way this game is for you.
Looking around the net you can pick this game up in many of the sales from $25 or £25 worth every penny
8/10
