Once again Capcom is likely heading for it’s next PR disaster in an attempt to promote the upcoming console port of Resident Evil Revelations. Most companies just throw out some adverts here and there but Capcom feel the need to go one step further by hosting the first ever blood swimming pool.
“Capcom are thrilled to able to create the world’s first blood swimming pool,” Capcom’s UK PR manager Adam Merrett stated. “Zombies have been kept very busy lately doing a variety of PR stunts, so rather than do the expected, we wanted to give them some time off for canal side relaxation in London.
“To non-zombies, the swimming pool will be shocking, gory and an incredibly disturbing experience – the perfect way to show that survival horror is back with a bang for Resident Evil Revelations”.
Okay so here’s how it basically works out.
- Capcom rents out a swimming pool.
- Fills it up with “blood” water.
- Throws some fake floating human body parts around.
- Puts some collectible merchandise at the bottom of the pool.
- You go swimming after that stuff and keep whatever you find.
If you live in London and like the idea of swimming in blood after some plastic swag then listen up. The event takes place on May 25th/26th at Jupiter Wharf, London E3 2PL. The tickets are free and you can pick them up here starting on May 20th with 100 tickets available per day.
Oddly enough this isn’t the first time Capcom has done something weird to promote a Resident Evil game. For Resident Evil 6, Capcom hosted the first human butchery in London.
Don’t look at me guys, I’m not a marketing expert. For all I know, this stuff could be working for Capcom.

LikeTetoro Capcom has already done the first live murder, it's called the Resident Evil 6 E3 2012 demo. Never have I seen a franchise so brutally butchered.
