Driveclub game director/lead designer Col Rodgers has left Evolution Studios. And now the Game release slips to ‘TBA 2014′ which is no surprise after Xav and I played early code around PS4 launch and it sucked.
In case you missed it, DriveClub’s game director Col Rodgers has left Evolution Studios.
Rodgers confirmed to Videogamer that he left the studio last month to start up indie games studio Big Red Switch Games, and that it’s not connected to the wave of layoffs that affected three Sony UK studios this week.
Rodgers left the studio in February to form indie startup Big Red Switch Games, a development studio that he says is working on “some cool game concepts”.
Rodgers also confirmed to VideoGamer that his departure is not connected to today’s wave of layoffs, which saw redundancies at Evolution, Guerrilla Cambridge and Sony London Studios.
His decision to leave was purely for personal reasons and he remains on good terms with Sony. DriveClub will continue development at Evolution without him.
However, with Rodgers out it isn’t yet clear who will be leading development on Evolution’s delayed PS4 racer in his place.
Meanwhile, Sony has broadened the DriveClub release date to ‘TBA 2014′, so the project now will likely miss the first half of 2014. Not looking good!
