Ever Wanted To See Xav’s Room?

Here’s a random thought, have you ever been curious to see what Xav’s room looks like? I was having a chat with Brad earlier today and we figured it might be cool to see what my room looks like, you know like some stupid MTV cribs kind of thing.

I honestly couldn’t be bothered to dig out everything I own but this should give you a good idea of what my setup looks like. Anyway feel free to take a look, it’s not like anything else interesting is happening in the world of games today.

I guess if there’s a “main” picture then it would be this one, I sit on my PC chair and play games to this view everyday. I decided to cover up the plain walls with things that have special meaning to me such as Spider-man, Toy Story and Michael Jackson. The TV itself is a Samsung 46 inch D7000 with a thin bezel frame, I have a small room so I wanted the TV to display as much of the picture as it could without wasting filler space. I also wall mounted it myself, again to converse space above all else.

When it comes to handheld gaming I have no problem admitting that I’m a full on Nintendo fan boy. As you can see back in the 90′s I was a massive Pokemon fan to the point where my GameBoy Color is Pokemon themed complete with that crazy fun GameBoy camera. Something that isn’t so clear however is the Pikachu on the side of the screen, believe it or not his cheek lights up red when the system is powered on, pretty cool huh?

On this side of the room I just had a big empty white space so I decided to again fill it up with something that had special meaning to me. As a kid who grew up with games in the 90′s, I felt that Mario and Sonic represented what gaming was all about during that era. The Sonic poster was the one I went to great lengths to make sure it was the right one, I wanted “classic” Sonic with the fat belly and not the lanky green eyed Sonic.

This is where I do all the writing on the site from, the central controller area so to speak. It’s actually nothing special at all, it’s just a five year old Sony Vaio which originally came with the rubbish Windows Vista but has since then been upgraded to the still rubbish Windows 8. I never really believed I needing a crazy setup in order to write about games, I’m no different to you the reader. I’m just a guy who loves games so I write about them from home.

Bonus Picture

I decided to dig up an old photo of my room from the late 90′s to draw some comparisons. As you can see my TV is perhaps a little smaller than what I have these days and yes that’s an old school antenna on top of it. The walls are covered in A4 posters such as Jet Force Gemini and Diddy Kong Racing, all stuck on with glorious blue tack. It’s a little hard to see but I’m playing Resident Evil 2 on N64, I’m actually 13 here so I was legally too young to be playing it but we’ll keep that on the low.
