Square Enix have released a new video for Final Fantasy X & X-2 HD Remaster, it’s not a trailer but rather a comparison video instead. In the comparison video we can see the visuals differences between the original standard definition versions of the games and the new HD remaster which obviously cleans up the image nicely.
My initial impressions are that the HD remaster obviously looks very nice and appears to be sporting some new rock textures. Tidus’ hair and necklace are also a marked improvement over what we saw on the PlayStation 2 over ten years ago but I’m not feeling the new lighting. The HD remaster looks a little dull whilst the original version has a nice “glow” look to it, maybe I’m just being overly nostalgic?
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster currently has no release date but it will be launching on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita later this year. The PlayStation 3 version will be available as a single disc bundle containing both games whilst the PlayStation Vita versions will be sold separately probably due to storage limitations. Square Enix have a history of eating us storage space thanks to their wonderful CG cut-scenes.
Update
Oh hey look, some extra goodies for those of you who decide to pre-order.
