On August 17th, Nintendo’s eShop opens its doors and welcomes the first full retail game - New Super Mario Bros. 2. Up until now, the eShop has only catered to those looking for budget titles, indie experiments, and re-released Nintendo classics, so this move marks a step in the right direction for the company’s digital download library.

Alongside NSMB2, the recently released New Art Academy and Freakyforms Deluxe will also be making their way onto the eShop, with more titles planned for the future. Each release will be identical to the physical copy, but will reside on your SD card rather than a game cartridge.

If you’re still on the fence about giving up your boxed game collection for the sake of a little convenience, how does double Stars on your Club Nintendo account sound? That’s right, each downloaded game will earn to twice the normal reward when registered on the site. If you’re saving up points for that new gold nunchuck, this might be the fastest way!
