IO Interactive released a new trailer for Hitman Absolution dubbed the “Ultimate Assassin”. In the trailer we can see that, hey wait you can just watch the trailer yourself. How about I just write you up some impressions of the game since I had the chance to play the demo at the Eurogamer Expo a little while ago. I’m not going to lie, I pretty much played the game just so I could pick up a little Hitman bobble head which I then decided I didn’t even want.
It may not have a number in the title but Hitman Absolution is the fifth title in the Hitman series, my experience with Hitman is limited to the first and second games. I actually rather enjoyed Hitman 2 but for some reason never finished it, I never got round to playing it’s sequels because back then I only had money for one system and I picked GameCube where sadly the series never returned to after Hitman 2, oh well.
The Hitman Absolution demo I played though short was highly enjoyable and actually might be the game that brings me back into the series, it’s without any disrespect to Blood Contracts fans the first time the series has made for this generation of systems. The demo asked me to assassinate a target which I totally screwed up because he was right in the middle of a busy market with tons of NPC’s on screen, it felt like Assassin’s Creed with guns to an extent.
There were others behind me waiting to play so I decided to go all guns blazing and just shoot my target in front of everyone causing a massive riot that almost ended up making me even harder to spot amongst everyone. I took a few bullets along the way but managed to escape.
My time with Hitman Absolution was brief but it was enough to get me interested in checking it out when it launches later this month on November 20th. If you’re a Hitman fan already then you don’t need anyone to convince you, if Hitman Absolution is not on your radar then it might be worth keeping an eye out for. If IO Interactive manage to successfully execute (no pun intended) on the core concept then Absolution should be a pretty good title.
