Like Starfox 64? You’ll Love Strike Vector

Strike Vector is a WIP indie game with AAA graphics that pays homage to the spaceship fighter genre.

Personally I’ve been slapping the label ‘indie game’ on anything that’s got retro graphics. But I’ve been slapping that sausage around too willy-nilly it seems.

Developed in UDK by four people, Strike Vector looks to be an amalgamation of spaceship fighter and first person shooter. Fans of Starfox 64, rejoice at your spiritual successor - but what’s weird is that you COD bros can rejoice too. Because the focus isn’t on a single player campaign where you take down mechs and giant space apes, it’s all about shooting down other players ( and let’s be honest now, none of us shot Slippy 100% by accident).

For all the hipsters out there, you needn’t be turned off by the AAA quality graphics, this is no rehash/clone/waste of time - Strike Vector looks to be a pure, high-octane multiplayer thrill ride.

The levels look gorgeous, and look to provide players with a huge omni-directional playground for plenty’o'dogfights.

At 1:38, we get a nice look at the actual (albeit WIP) HUD and a player transitioning between stationary mode and flight mode. To say the transition was seamless would be an understatement; it was like smooth butter dripping off of the engine of an Arwing.

Definitely keep an eye out for this one.
