While mobile gaming has come a long way in the last decade (can you believe we’ve gone from Snake to Dead Space and GTA in so short a time?), the lack of physical buttons on our devices brings many a sigh to those attempting otherwise-epic titles. Enter Ringbow, the Bluetooth-enabled, wearable D-Pad ring, which has recently appeared on Kickstarter.
Basically, it’s a one-size-fits-all gaming accessory that straps onto your index finger and brings that tactile feeling back to mobile gaming. With a 9-way directional nub and the promise of 5 hours continuous use per charge, the possibilities extend beyond gaming and into all sorts of applications, on both Android, and later, iOS.
Unfortunately, Ringbow will never see the light of day if the $100,000 goal isn’t met, but with over $36,000 already pledged and 28 days until the deadline, I have a feeling that come November, we’ll see a lot of people walking around with this geeky piece of bling on. If you want one for yourself, just head on over to Kickstarter and pledge at least $45. Higher donations allow you to pick your ring colour, as well as grant access to early APIs and various other benefits.
