Lara Croft Makes Her Way to Google Chrome

Google Chrome - it ain’t just a browser. No, it’s becoming a legitimate gaming platform, and is home to a handful of well-known titles, including Bastion and From Dust. Now, Square Enix are bringing everyone’s favourite British heroine to the party, with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.

Originally released on XBLA in 2010, Guardian of Light brought a more arcadey feel to the Tomb Raider franchise, and was met with positive reviews (certainly more so than certain other games in the series). Since then, it’s been ported to many other platforms, but this is the first time it will be fully playable in browser.

This magic is all thanks to Google technology called Native Client, which paves the way for other major releases to appear on Chrome, including a few more by Square Enix. No word on the pricing of Guardian of Light has appeared yet, but we’ll be sure to post the details when they become available.
