We already knew that this month’s Vita Update would bring support for PS1 Classics, but that’s not all it brings. New controls and tweaks are also arriving on the system, including the long-requested ability to control home navigation with the physical buttons. Yay!
We’ll also see support for the Cross Controller feature shown off in Sony’s Gamescom press conference, allowing new ways to play existing titles such as LittleBigPlanet 2. Those who use the web browser will be pleased to hear that the rear touchpad will be usable for scrolling and zooming, keeping that gorgeous screen free from greasy fingerprints as you surf the net.
There are tweaks to the media players as well, bringing playback speed control to the video player, and support for playlists to the music player. Maps, messaging, and photos get minor updates too, and although these aren’t the most talked about aspects of the system, it’s nice to see that Sony are bringing some all-around polish to their handheld.
