On November 20th, Harmonix’s magnum opus, Rock Band, will celebrate its fifth birthday. It’s hard to believe that the company has managed to pump out DLC every single week for the last five years, but true nonetheless. To mark this special event, we’ll be getting songs from six decades, starting in the 1960s and leading up to this very year. Here are the tracks coming next week:
- The Band - “The Weight (live)” (1968)
- The Allman Brothers Band - “Jessica” (1973)
- Modern English - “I Melt With You” (1982)
- Nine Inch Nails - “Closer” (1994)
- Crossfade - “Cold” (2004)
- DragonForce - “Cry Thunder” (2012)
Each song costs the usual price, and they all have keyboard support, except for “Cold”. The two classic rock tracks offer Pro Guitar and Bass tracks, too. That’s cool, as these are the songs I’m most excited about, and will definitely be picking up. They’ll all be available on November 20th, but European PS3 owners will have to wait until November 21st.
Harmonix have also revealed that over 100 million Rock Band songs have been purchased since launch, and I only account for a few hundred, which means there are many other happy rhythm game fans around the world. Good on you, Harmonix - here’s to another five glorious years!
