Team17 have announced that Worms 3 is coming to iOS in Autumn of this year following the success of Worms 2: Armageddon.
Worms 3 is building on the success and popularity of Worms 2, which has amassed some fairly ridiculous statistics. Over 120,000,000 games have been played which amounts to almost 2,000 years of game time. Pretty impressive for a game about elongated, soft-bodied invertebrates.

Worms 3 will be coming with a host of new features including updated graphics, new weapons and classes and has been developed specifically for mobile platforms.

Worms 3 will come with both single player modes, with 27 missions across 4 different themes, and multiplayer. The multiplayer comes in the form of asynchronous, drop-in-drop-out, ranked and friendly matches in two modes: Forts and Deathmatch. Pass ‘n’ play multiplayer is supported for up to four people.

Another new feature includes the collecting of various cards that can give your team the edge. Playing the right card at the start or end of a round can dramatically change the outcome. The introduction of a class system adds a new dynamic to team selection. Players can choose from a mix of heavy, scout, solider and scientist each coming with their own unique skills and abilities allowing players to adapt to suit their playing style.

Other features in Worms 3 include leaderboards, squad customisation, and the use of the Airplay feature. This means that players can plot their move on their handheld device whilst streaming the game on a big screen by connecting through Apple TV.

Exclusive to iOS, Worms 3 is due for a Q3 2013 release and will be available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch via the App Store.
