The LEGO Movie Videogame Announced, Wait, What?

The LEGO Movie Videogame, in other words, YO DAWG I HEARD.jpeg. I’m only joking, except when I say I’m joking I’m actually not. The Lego Movie Videogame is based on a movie based on a game based on a brand, it’s Street Fighter The Movie The Game all over again except without the suck.

In case you’ve not been following the film industry as of late and I don’t blame you, it’s s**t, then you may be pleased to hear that there’s a LEGO film in the works and it even looks pretty good. To coincide with the film there’s obviously going to be a game to go with it, why wouldn’t there be?

In a scenario drawn from the film, The LEGO Movie Videogame puts LEGO kids into the role of Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. Players guide him as he is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

Not much is known about The LEGO Movie Videogame other than what you can see in the screenshots below. It’s nice to see the game’s environments FINALLY be made up of LEGO just like the rest of the game. No need to worry, it may be a movie tie in but the LEGO series has generally been solid throughout so this latest LEGO title should be enjoyable stuff.

The LEGO Movie Videogame will be sometime in 2014 for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, PC, 3DS and Vita. There will also be NES and 32x versions somewhere down the line although Warner Bros is keeping quiet on those for the time being.
