An Xbox 360 system update went live earlier today and we’ve the details on what it does, don’t get excited. If you were hoping for some new features that’s not happening and if you were hoping they would tone down the ads then that’s also not happening. What is happening however is a couple of minor tweaks here and there, Major Nelson offered the following on his site.
I wanted to let you know that the team has just released a system update for the Xbox 360 over Xbox LIVE. Starting today when you sign in to Xbox LIVE you’ll receive a prompt to accept this mandatory update. If you are signed into LIVE already, you may be signed out and asked to accept the update and you’ll be back online in a few moments.
In this update, we are correcting some issues such as displaying the incorrect playlist name when launching a playlist from Xbox SmartGlass to the console, an error with Xbox Video closed-captioning and an error with Xbox Music that some were experiencing.
There’s no mention of a fix regarding the Xbod dashboard failing to load, maybe it’s just me but this new metro style dashboard has a 50/50 chance of actually loading up on my system. When it doesn’t load it just stays on that little loading spiral until I reset the system and try it out, come on Microsoft fix your bloated dashboard. At least the last update fixed the games library which took upwards of a minute to load all the games.
