Activision Lose James Bond License?

Did Activision lose the James Bond License? The removal of three Activision published 007 titles from services such as Steam does raise doubt. That’s one of the reasons why I disapprove of a digital download future, you never truly own something and there’s always the possibility that one day a game can vanish without warning. In the case of Activision it’s Quantum of Solace, Blood Stone and everyone’s favourite 007 Legends that are M.I.A.

According NeoGamr Activision’s Bond license was supposed to last until 2014 but appears to have been lost prematurely for reasons yet unknown. Could it have something to do with how bad 007 Legends was? Of course not, EA released 007 Racing and they managed to keep the license for another six years so I can’t imagine it being a quality issue. To be fair up until 007 Legends Activision put out some decent Bond titles though EA’s 007: Everything or Nothing is the best game in the series following the legendary Goldeneye on N64.

Assuming Activision have indeed lost the license what happens next? Does Activision attempt to renew or will EA show interest and take it back? I for one don’t have a clue, we’ll just have to wait a little longer on this one to see how it pans out.
