Batman Arkham Origins Revealed

It’s been hinted at in the past but today Batman Arkham Origins has been officially announced. Perhaps more surprisingly is the fact that there will also be a another game titled Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate for the 3DS and Vita.

Batman Arkham Origins will be as the name implies be an origins story, in it we will see a young Batman who will encounter many of the villains we’ve come to expect from the Batman universe. It’s a little strange to see the series go back in time considering Batman Arkham City did end on a bit of a cliffhanger but when you look at the details, everything starts to make sense.

Rocksteady Studios who developed the previous two Batman games will not be returning for Origins, instead Warner Bros Games Montreal will be taking over. Not much is known about Warner Bros Games Montreal other than they worked on the Wii U port of Batman Arkham City which likely acted as a chance to dip their toes into the water before jumping in so to speak.

Also in development is Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate for the 3DS and Vita, this title takes place after Arkham Origins and is said to be “2.5-D Metroid-style exploration action game”. It’s being developed by Armature Studio which was founded by several former Retro Studios leads developers who previously worked on the Metroid Prime Trilogy. In other words, the 3DS and Vita game will probably be better than the console game.

So what’s Rocksteady Studios working on whilst all of this is happening?
