Deep Silver have just announced that Dead Island: Riptide, the sequel to the 2011 zombie action game, will be launching in North America and Canada on April 23rd, 2013, and in the rest of the world on April 26th.
As well as launch dates, they also revealed the special pre-order bonuses eager fans can lay they hands on. The game will come in two different versions: the Pre-order Edition and the Special Retailers Edition. Here are the details on those packs:
- Pre-order Edition: This version of Dead Island Riptide will include an exclusive pack of weapon mods that allows even more, manifold ways to dispose of the ghastly zombie hordes on Palanai island.
- Special Retailers Edition: In addition to the weapon mods this version will contain an alternate character skin not obtainable anywhere else! The Special Edition of Dead Island Riptide will only be available at selected retail partners. Details about the retail partners per territory offering the Special Edition will be announced soon. The Special Retailers Edition will also feature an alternative packshot.
Although Dead Island: Riptide takes place after the events of the original Dead Island, it’s being described as a spin-off. Once again, it centres on four survivors who find themselves on the island of Palanai in the Banoi archipelago, which has been overrun by zombies. Dead Island may not have been the best received game of 2011, but I still have high hopes for the sequel when it arrives next year.
