GamePad - The 7″ Android Gaming Tablet Coming Soon

GamePad

So may Android devices hit the market these days, but this one could be a little different. The duel-core 1.5GHz processor is good, but hardly mind-blowing. The 7″ screen is manageable, but not overwhelming. Android 4.0 is fairly new, but it isn’t the latest and greatest. However, one thing that’s sure to catch attention is the multitude of physical buttons and analog nubs.

Unfortunately, this new tablet is made by Archos - a company that prides itself in cheap, low-end Android devices. I think they’re part of the reason people hold the iPad in such high regard - compared to an Archos tablet, even the first gen iPad is top-of-the-line. Maybe they’re changing tactics, though. I suppose the duel-core processor is nothing to scoff at, and the inclusion of mini HDMI could make for some nice full-screen TV fun.

They’ve even been working to integrate the controls into existing Android apps, and apparently have over 1,000 that are currently compatible. I just hope they improve their screen technology though, because if you were to view their current offerings at the angle this image was taken at, all you’d see is black. I guess we’ll find out soon.
