Every time I hear news about The Last of Us, Naughty Dog’s upcoming post-apocalyptic adventure, I get a little more excited. At first it just looked like a cool, dark, Uncharted-style game, but as we found out more about the back story and enemies, things got a whole lot scarier. In fact, it sounds a lot like a zombie title, with a deadly infection turning people into monsters; their craving for human flesh insatiable. Fighting other living people is one thing, but facing hordes of infected ghouls is a whole other ball park.
The latest video for the game shows a couple of minutes of gameplay footage. We’ll see our protagonists sneaking through a mall, silently taking out enemies and trying to remain undetected. Of course, things don’t always work out as planned. We also get a brief glimpse at the weapons interface, through which Joel can combine items to form ever-deadlier killing tools. Looks like it’s all done in real-time, which should keep tensions high.
We’ve also got plenty of new screenshots, which showcase some of the rich environments we’ll be exploring. It’s all looking good, and I can’t wait until we get the final game in our hands on May 7th.
