Nintendo Stealthily Releases A Nintendo Direct & Earthbound

Earthbound 600 x 300

In what is the most random thing I’ve seen in years, Nintendo have stealthily released a Nintendo Direct mini & Earthbound on the Virtual Console. Yeah, seriously no warning or heads up what so ever, they just released these two without telling anyone because…

Nintendo Direct Summary

  • Satoru Shibata starts off by talking about Animal Crossing New Leaf.
  • He then plugs Nintendo’s image share feature. Click here for details.
  • Future 3DS system update will allow for street pass relay. Basically you can street pass with other users using a Nintendo Zone hotspot instead of walking past them.
  • Sega 3D Classics series will be releasing soon in Europe. Altered Beast, Ecco the Dolphin, Galaxy force, Shinobi, Sonic the Hedgehog, Space Harrier, Streets of Rage & Super Hang On were shown.
  • New Pikmin 3 footage shown, comes out on July 26th.
  • Pikmin 3 keyrings coming to Nintendo Europe stars catalogue next month.
  • New Wonderful 101 trailer shown, looks insanely cool. Out on August 23rd.
  • Promotion Announced: Buy Pikmin 3 and get 30% off The Wonderful 101. eShop exclusive promotion.
  • A Wonderful 101 focused Nintendo Direct will be coming in the future.
  • Various Wii U 3rd party titles shown.
  • CloudBerry Kingdom on August 1st as an eShop digital download.
  • DuckTales Remastered on August 15th as an eShop digital download.
  • Spin The Bottle sometime in August as an eShop digital download.
  • Earthbound Virtual Console available now on the Wii U eShop.

The Wonderful 101 trailer looked awesome and it’s great to see the Sega 3D classics series make the leap outside Japan, I hear Space Harrier looks awesome in 3D. There’s also Earthbound on Virtual Console which Nintendo randomly released, it certainly wasn’t listed in the usual Nintendo downloads post I do every Monday.
