Several Sega AM2 classics are available now on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. Currently five titles are slated to be released digitally but at the moment the first three are out in the form of Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers and Sonic The Fighters. Sega has not yet revealed when they plan to launch Cyber-Troopers: Virtual On and Virtua Striker.
I’ve had a quick play through of Virtua Fighter 2 via the trial version and from what I can see it’s all arcade perfect, in fact it’s been than arcade perfect thanks to the extremely clean looking visuals. One thing I should warn you about is that you only have one minute to play the game before it kicks you off to the main menu making this the worst demo I have seen in a good while.
Each game will cost you $4.99/£3.69/€4.49 on PSN and 400 Microsoft points on Xbox Live Arcade which is more than fair, in fact it’s a pretty good deal. I was expecting double the price so I’m not complaining, in fact I’m going to pick up Virtua Fighter 2 but the other two are a little harder to recommend. Nothing against Fighting Vipers but I’d much rather see Fighters Megamix.
