There aren’t a great deal of video game award ceremonies, but at least BAFTA (The British Academy of Film and Television Arts) is there to give those hard working developers the praise they deserve. This Sunday was the annual Children’s Awards, which focuses on entertainment for - you guessed it - children. Among picks for best television and film offerings, there was also an award for best video game, which went to Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure.
“We are absolutely delighted to have won best video game at the British Academy Children’s Awards,” said Peter Hepworth, UK Managing Director of Activision Blizzard. “This is a proud moment for Activision and development studio Toys for Bob and with Skylanders Giants proving to be a hit with children, we’re all very excited about the future of Skylanders.”
Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure beat out Just Dance 3, Lego Batman 2, and Super Mario 3D Land, and now joins other winners such as last year’s Lego Pirates of the Caribbean. With the continued success of the Skylanders series, including the recently-released Skylanders Giants, Activision has got to be very pleased to receive this well-respected award.
