Namco Bandai Games have announced the release date, pre-order program and collector’s edition of Tales of Xillia.

Tales of Xillia will be hitting Europe and Australia on the 9th of August 2013 for PlayStation®3

In addition to the game itself, the Tales of Xillia: Milla Maxwell Collector’s Edition features a 21.5cm (including base) Milla figurine based on the artistic game artwork, the Original Soundtrack, and a high quality hardback art book, all included in a newly designed folded box. Get ready to purchase this exclusive Limited Edition, as only 10,000 copies will be available on www.talesofgame.com for £85.99. Pre-ordering this Exclusive Edition will allow fans to get access to exclusive costumes for Jude and Milla and a special PS3 custom theme.

You’ll also be able to get your hands on an exclusive Day One Edition of Tales of Xillia, which will be available to purchase from selected retailers for the same price as the standard retail version. The Day One Edition will include an art book and the original soundtrack. Fans who pick up this edition will also receive the exclusive costumes for Jude and Milla and the special PS3 custom theme.

So why pre-order it, peeps? Just make time in your busy nerd schedule and run down to a super specific retailer on the 9th of August (which of course, is a Friday) and get yourself some extra in-game costumes! And a theme! For the PS3! You can dress up as one of the characters!

Some character in-battle showcase trailers

It’s strange how a PS3 game can still look so dated. The voice acting suffers from dubbing issues from the 80′s and the character designs leave something to be desired. Even the battle showcases feel like they could’ve been orchestrated or choreographed a little better. As a Tales series fan, I know battles can get a little hectic and it really is hard to judge exactly what is going on in these videos - which is detrimental when these are supposed to be enticing newcomers as well as fans to buy the damn thing.

Namco Bandai need to try something new with this series; they need to actually utilise next-gen technology and give us something refreshing. You can only play it safe for so long.
