After seemingly disappearing for a while, Nintendo have announced a release date for the upcoming Yoshi’s New Island. You won’t have to wait much longer as the game is due to arrive on March 14th for both American and European gamers.
The tale of Yoshi’s New Island is a sequel to the Super Nintendo title Super Mario World 2:Yoshi’s Island, and is set in a new location, Egg Island. In this new chapter in the series, Baby Luigi has been whisked away once again, leaving it up to the Yoshi clan to keep Baby Mario out of harm’s way and embark on a mission of discovery.
In addition to the release date, Nintendo have also released an image of the official box art and it does look rather slick. Shame about the stupid “Also compatible with Nintendo 2DS” logo on the bottom right, was this really needed Nintendo?
Sometime last year Nintendo were kind enough to invite me to one of their press events whereby I was lucky enough to go hands on with Yoshi’s New Island. I wasn’t exactly in love with the game but that was a long time ago so we’ll see how it fairs up when it does release. Until then, here’s the most recent footage of the game.
