Remember that Axl Rose VS Activision battle from 2010? Well yeah it finally ended and poor Axl lost. If you don’t remember what exactly the whole thing was about then don’t worry as I got you covered.
Basically Axl got pissed off with how videogames work and still hates Slash telling Hollywood Reporter the following.
[Activision] began spinning a web of lies and deception to conceal its true intentions to not only feature Slash and VR prominently in GH III but also promote the game by emphasizing and reinforcing an association between Slash and Guns N’ Roses and the band’s song ‘Welcome to the Jungle,
I have a hard time believing that the modern day Axl Rose would be capable of stringing together those words but it is what it is. Axl Rose filled $20 million lawsuit against Activision but ended up losing the case after the judge dismissed Axl’s case citing that he had been a little too late in filing the lawsuit.
The game in question was Guitar Hero III which launched in 2007, Axl decided to get angry three years later in 2010 so that’s pretty much how it went down. So why did Axl wait three years before complaining?
From December 2007 through November 2010, Activision was offering me a Guns N’ Roses-dedicated video game, a game dedicated to music from the ‘Chinese Democracy’ album, and other proposals.
Chinese Democracy, the first Guns N’ Roses album since 1993, was released as Rock Band DLC in 2009 which perhaps was a the result of a falling out between Axl and Activision.
Long story short, if you’re pissed about something, take immediate action. Also if you’re going to release a Guns N’ Roses album without Slash… don’t do it.
