Sometime yesterday Cliff Bleszinski formally of Epic Games tweeted he wants to fix Resident Evil. Now I’m not really someone who thinks what someone tweets is usually news worthy but in Cliff’s case it’s an exception I’m going to make this time. You may not be aware of who Cliff Bleszinski is but you’ve very likely played some of his games before. Cliff Bleszinski otherwise known as CliffyB is best known for his work on the Unreal Tournament & Gears of War titles, Jazz The Jackrabbit if you’re really old school.
Cliff Bleszinski tweeted.
Hey, Capcom. Call me. We can fix Resident Evil. Together.

What makes the tweet rather interesting is that he announced his departure from Epic Games earlier this month having worked there for over 20 years. His reasons for leaving were that he needed a break from the industry having been involved in making games since he was a teenager. The problem is usually people say one thing and before you know it there join another company elsewhere, happens all the time. It does seem a bit strange that the person who wants a break from the industry is asking Capcom to call him to fix their game.
I’m not an idiot and this could very well simply be Cliff having a bit of fun on Twitter but it does raise an eyebrow, or at least it did to me. It’s no secret that Gears of War was heavily influenced by Resident Evil 4 so one can understand why Cliff would be interested in “saving” the Resident Evil series from any further self destruction. Then again despite what you’ve heard not everyone in the world hates Resident Evil 6. Personally I hated it so as far as I’m concerned, Capcom get dialling.
