Form a Wake-Up Club With PlayStation Vita on January 15th

Living in a world of social networking is sure leading to a bizarre lifestyle. People can celebrate and share the foods they eat, the parties they attend, and now, the mere fact that they wake up in the morning. On January 15th, those who choose to fully enjoy the start of each new day can download Wake-Up Club, a free app for PlayStation Vita that allows you to rise with similarly-scheduled people.

Ok, so it works like this: You set your Vita’s alarm clock, after choosing options such as ringtone and theme, and it groups you up with 11 random people who also have their alarms set for that time. You’re now part of your very own wake-up club! Once your alarm goes off in the morning, you tap on your avatar and appear in a virtual clubroom with your fellow wakers. You can even cheer on those who are dozing, encouraging them to get off their asses and join the world of the living once again.

On top of this, the app records stats, such as how often you’ve arisen within 5 minutes of your alarm, and how many consecutive successes you’ve had. I have a feeling that, going forward, we’re going to see a lot more of these “lifestyle games”, which reward you for day-to-day activities. After all, why take part in life if you’re not getting scored for it? I just hope that Wake-Up Club proves to be a success so we get the inevitable sequel - Bathroom Club. That high-fibre diet is going to pay off for me soon!
