According to Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson’s Twitter feed, “Across all platforms, Minecraft sold 453k copies on dec 24! Wowzers!”
According to Minecraft’s official site the PC/Mac version of the game has sold over 8.7 million copies, with a live ticker displaying the number growing by the second. With the Xbox Live Arcade version nearing the 4.5 million sold mark in early December and the iOS/Android versions combining for over 5 million copies sold that brings the grand total to over 18 million copies sold across all platforms.
With absolutely no signs of slowing down any time soon, the heroes of Minecraft (Mojang) recently issued a pre-release version of the 1.4.7 update (PC/Mac), that fixes multiple crashing issues and Null Pointer Exceptions from version 1.4.6.
If you managed to dodge the Minecraft craze for this long you’re truly missing out. Regardless of what platform you play on the game offers literally endless hours of entertainment, just think of it as virtual lego!
