Namco Trademarks SoulCalibur Lost Swords

SoulCalibur V 600 x 300

Here’s a bit of random news, Namco have trademarked the name SoulCalibur Lost Swords. First reaction would be to assume that some kind of update to SoulCalibur V is in the works but then we remember, Namco doesn’t care about SoulCalibur, at least not in comparison to it’s precious Tekken series.

Since it’s release in early 2012 Namco have released essentially one patch for SoulCalibur V which broke the game by making Viola stronger than she had any right to be, it’s so bad that France were considering banning her. SoulCalibur Lost Swords could a crappy iOS game for all we knew and judging by it’s description on the trademark site, it is.

Entertainment, namely, providing a computer game that may be accessed network-wide by network users via mobile phones and computers; providing computer games via network between communications networks and computers.

Well that doesn’t sound too good to be honest, knowing my luck these days I bet Double Helix is probably working this as well. I’ve always said that SoulCalibur V is one “Super” edition away from being the game entry in the series from a gameplay point of view and an update would do wonders for the game but I doubt it.

Perhaps we could be looking at some kind of 3DS/Vita port of SoulCalibur V, much like SoulCalibur Broken Destiny for the PSP. Maybe I’m wasting my time here and it will end up being some stupid Temple Run clone for iPad or something.
