The ever popular monthly Nintendo Direct stream is over and it was a pretty good one actually. We got to see Super Mario 3D World haters get owned and Sonic Lost World is looking better than any 3D Sonic title ever has the right to. Speaking of Sonic, it’s perhaps not that surprising but he’ll be returning for Smash Bros 4. I’d like to see Tails join him but I don’t think Nintendo want to stick in too many 3rd party characters in there.
With the good came the bad, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze has been delayed until 2014. It’s always a shame to see a title get delayed (especially Donkey Kong) but let’s give credit where it’s due. The Wii U is in desperate need of games and yet Nintendo is willing to delay one of it’s biggest titles just so it meets their quality standards. I’m not happy about it either but if Retro Studios needs more development time, then so be it.
Overall it was solid Nintendo Direct, some new footage for upcoming titles was shown and a couple of release dates were announced. Nothing in the way of “megatons” but I’m fairly content with what I saw
