It’s hard to believe that only a week has passed since Imangi Studios released Temple Run 2, the sequel to their wildly-popular mobile game from 2011. What’s even harder to believe is that it’s now available on Android and Kindle, a mere week after its iOS debut. As someone who always complains about the (often) year-long gap between iOS and Android game releases, this is a breath of fresh air, and I hope a new precedent.
Okay, so release surprises aside, what does Temple Run 2 offer? Well, it features high-res graphics, new obstacles, abilities, player powers, and achievements. Players must fly down zip lines and speed along in mine carts in an entirely new and infinitely more challenging world filled with curvy roads, hills and valleys. Basically, if you were a fan of the first one, this should be right up your alley.
“Last year, we saw so much enthusiasm from the Temple Run community when we expanded the original game to more mobile platforms,” said Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi Studios. “With Temple Run 2, we are thrilled to be able to follow up with the Android version so quickly after the App Store debut, and hope that fans of the game are just as excited about it as we are.”
Considering the fact that Temple Run 2 on iOS was downloaded 20 million times in its first four days of release, I’d say this is going to be mighty popular. And the best part? It’s free!
