Temple Run 2 Downloaded 50 Million Times in Two Weeks

Temple Run 2 Swinging

Temple Run 2, Imagi’s sequel to their 2012 hit, has been downloaded 50 million times in its first 13 days on the market. This figure is for iOS, Android, and Kindle combined, and takes the record from Angry Birds Star Wars for the fastest growing game. The original Temple Run has been downloaded 170 million times, so although Temple Run 2 has a long way to catch up, at this pace it won’t be a problem.

“Temple Run has evolved into something so much bigger than us,” says Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi. “The game has performed beyond our wildest dreams, and we are thrilled that gamers and fans have embraced Temple Run 2 in such a short period of time.”

One can’t help but wonder the amount of revenue this game is taking in. It may be free-to-play, but there’s still a huge potential to get money through advertising and microtransactions. Oh, and merchandising - just ask Rovio if you need help with that one.
