More videos emerging of the VGAs and this time it’s the Gears of War Judgment Campaign trailer. The game is set after emergence day which basically means this one is going to be a prequel to the Gears of War trilogy that you’ve come to love by now. Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago will not be the main characters this time round but instead Damon S. Baird and Augustus Cole. Long story short, they got rid of the characters I didn’t like and gave me the characters I did so Judgment already has my interest somewhat.
The reason I say somewhat is because whilst I’ve enjoyed the trilogy I feel that by now I’ve got my Gears of War fix, I don’t feel all that compelled to return to the Gears universe just yet. It does feel like they are trying to squeeze in one more release before we start to move on to the next generation but there is one part I find interesting. People Can Fly are co-developing this one with Epic Games.
I’m sure you guys will remember People Can Fly as the team that brought us the better than expected Bulletstorm, Gears of War Judgment does feel like a step back for those guys. If it were up to me I’d let them go nuts and make whatever they want to, they seem like a great team after having played Bulletstorm. We’ll have to wait and see how this one turns out, I’m not too excited but I am interested to see if People Can Fly can inject new life into the series.
