Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is arriving on March 22nd for both the Wii U and 3DS. Yes I’ve done this a thousand times already, insert everything ever made is coming out in March joke here.

You’ve all heard of Monster Hunter before, Capcom’s extremely popular action role-playing game that started life as a PlayStation 2 game but eventually found a new home on Nintendo’s Wii. These days Monster Hunter is basically a Nintendo exclusive with the fourth entry in the series due to launch on the 3DS in the summer. If Nintendo are smart they’ll make sure the main Monster Hunter series stays exclusive on their platforms.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is an upgraded port of the Wii version for both the Wii U and 3DS.

Players who own both versions will be able to transfer their own personal save data from the Wii U version to their copy on Nintendo 3DS, and vice versa, ensuring a seamless continuation from the HD experience at home to hunting on the go in immersive 3D.

The world of Monster Hunter™ can be experienced alone or in local multiplayer for up to four players on Nintendo 3DS, while Wii U players will be able to form hunting parties of up to four players online - or enjoy the hunt with Nintendo 3DS players via a local wireless connection. Wii U owners will also be able to make use of the built-in GamePad microphone to chat with their online hunting party.

Sounds cool enough and if you’ve yet to play a Monster Hunter game then it seems like a perfectly good time to jump in. Those who want to try out the game before throwing down the cash will be able to do so with the upcoming demo for both Wii U and 3DS that launches on 21st February via the Nintendo eShop. Both demos feature one Beginner and one Advanced single-player quest, players can choose from 12 weapons as they gear up to tackle Lagombi and Plesioth.
