The launch of Aliens Colonial Marines is fast approaching and a new kick ass trailer has been released, their words not mine. It’s hard to believe that this game is actually coming out next month because it’s development has been a long time coming starting in 2001. EA were set to publish an Aliens Colonials Marines game developed by Check Six for the PS2 that eventually got cancelled.
In 2006 Sega announced they had purchased the rights to the Aliens franchise and soon after revealed that Gearbox Software had an Aliens game in the works. Sometime in 2008 the game was given it’s title, Aliens Colonial Marines and it’s fair to say that whist it may not have any connection to the cancelled PS2 game, it at the very least has been in developed since 2006.
On February 12th everyone will be able to see if the wait has been worth it, Gearbox Software has had past success with the Brothers in Arms games but it’s fair to say Boaderlands is really the title that put them on the map. I for one have not enjoyed an Aliens game since 1999′s Aliens VS Predator on the PC but I love the universe so here’s hoping that Colonial Marines manages to live up to the trailers and kick ass as they put it.
