The 3DS has had a fantastic year in 2013 and it’s saved the best until last, The Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds launches today. Words can’t describe how strange it is doing a post on this game, it felt like only yesterday I was a young kid playing A Link to the Past on SNES and now here I am posting about the sequel.
YES! A Link Between Worlds is a sequel to A Link to the Past and Nintendo must have balls of steel in order to even consider doing a follow up to such a highly regarded game. Although I can’t give you my own personal thoughts on the title just yet (it came out today, duh!) I can however tell you that A Link Between Worlds appears to be every bit as good as the original.
The story begins in The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds with an ominous threat looming over Hyrule. A mysterious, wizardly figure named Yuga has been appearing throughout the land, transforming the kingdom’s seven sages into paintings and spiriting them away into another world. With the future of Hyrule at stake, Link must therefore step into the unknown realm of Lorule and stop Yuga’s nefarious plans in order to restore peace and harmony to his home world.
This is perhaps the quickest a trailer has ever sold me on a game, seven seconds into the video and the Legend of Zelda theme hits.
The Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds is out now exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS. Those of you who have yet to pick up a Nintendo 3DS may be interested to know that Nintendo have a bundle also available. It’s a Zelda themed 3DS XL featuring a digital download version of A Link Between Worlds and should retail for about £199.99 although I found it on Amazon for cheaper.
