I’m a bit trailer happy today and this Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD story trailer is a pretty good one. It’s perhaps the most content heavy trailer thus far as we’ve previously been relegated to various off-screen videos or horribly compressed jpegs so it’s nice to see a good chunk of the game in all it’s HD glory.
Whilst other HD remasters are content with simply bumping up the resolution and calling it a day, The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD goes the extra mile. Not only are the visuals rendered at 1080p but they’ve been enhanced thanks the additional of bloom lighting, maybe a little too much depending on who you ask.
The stupidly annoying Triforce collecting quest seen in the original has been greatly simplified, the game features a new speedy sail for your boat so you can reach destinations faster and hero mode is unlocked from the start. In hero mode you won’t find any hearts lying around inside various pots and enemies all do twice as much damage.
The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD will be available as a digital download in North America on September 20th. If you prefer physical copies then you’ll have to wait until October 4th before you can get your hands on it, the case is totally awesome so it might be worth waiting.
There’s also a special limited edition version of the game which includes a Ganondorf figurine. I normally don’t acknowledge special editions but I like this one so I’m making an exception here. Don’t forget that it’s a GAME exclusive so you’ll need to go there if you want the figurine.
