As the release date for The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD draws nearer, Nintendo has been releasing more media and this comparison video is worth a look. Especially since everyone is complaining about the bloom lighting being overdone in this HD remaster.
To all the doubters out there, behold how silly your arguments are.
The widescreen presentation seen in the HD remaster no doubt adds to the game greatly, it gives the entire thing a grander sense of scale in comparison to the blurry 4:3 aspect ratio of the GameCube. It appears they’ve also got rid of the weird depth of field effect seen in the original, normally I like depth of field but it’s usage in Wind Waker wasn’t exactly put to great use.
In the trailer embedded below you’ll be able to see a few more comparisons between the two versions, some differences are subtle such as the new dynamic lighting. We also see that the bloom lighting is mainly used in sunny outdoor environments so the whole argument has been blown out of proportion.
The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD will be available as a digital download in North America on September 20th. If you prefer physical copies or just live in Europe then you’ll have to wait until October 4th.
